"Studying BA Photographic Practice at the University of Northampton is a great option for those wishing to acquire an appropriate level of skill and critical knowledge to pursue their desired direction with photography, whether this be with fine art or commercial intentions. My personal experience as a mature student on this particular course was highly enjoyable and rewarding. I found the lecturers always engaging, friendly and obliging, and able to encourage a sustained enthusiasm for creative and intellectual thought. The dark rooms, studios and photographic and computer equipment were all of a very high standard, and library resources far exceeded my expectations. Overall, the course is very well managed, with a committed focus on students' individual interests and creative methods, allowing for development in a most worthwhile direction." Antoni Tucker |
“The encouragement I received from my tutors at the University of Northampton certainly made the difference to my personal development. With their guidance and support, I was able to reinforce my practical work with strong theory which subsequently improved my critical practice. I was also encouraged to put my work forward for competitions and undertake work experience which has helped me further my career as an artist and photographer.” Luke Pajak |

“Studying photography at the University of Northampton was an enjoyable experience. The lecturers were very friendly, approachable and always happy to give advice or help. The facilities were excellent and always well-maintained. As the university has close ties with several galleries around the region, students are able to gain some valuable contacts. These have proved very useful and since leaving have led to a graduate exhibition. All in all, my time at the University was excellent.” Stuart Southwell |
“The BA Photographic Practice course was challenging and wide ranging with a good mix of Fine Art and Commercial Photography. The modules were academically stimulating and the tutors always very friendly and extremely supportive, giving praise, encouragement and guidance when necessary. In addition to academic and practical support, we received considerable encouragement to enter competitions and curate group exhibitions. After graduating I was invited to exhibit alongside Fine Art Students at a gallery in Northampton and I will be holding my first solo exhibition at The Castle, Wellingborough in 2009. Overall I found my experience at The University of Northampton to be hugely beneficial and have extended my interests and knowledge into postgraduate study.” Marion Moorhead |
